Team Red, White & Blue sponsored a trail running camp for America's Veterans to run, learn, and bond. The camp was held at Camp Eagle near Rocksprings, Texas and took place Veterans Day weekend (Nov 9-11th). Topics discussed included night running and lighting systems, uphill and downhill running techniques, incorporating speed training in running workouts, technical trail running skills, running form, first aid for common trail running injuries, running gear and hydration systems, trail running etiquette, Leave No Trace practice, core workouts, training and racing plans, running nutrition, and the usefulness of running as metaphor.  Elite trail and ultrarunners, along with experienced local volunteers, coached and mentored camp veterans on hour-long runs to address these topics.  Four hour-long lectures with question and answer periods explored running plans, injury prevention, nutrition, and heat illnesses in more depth.  Camp participants ran in one of four groups based on their fitness levels.  Lodging was primarily in 12 person dormitories and meals were family style in a large dining hall.  63 veterans and 12 civilians attended the camp.  37 civilian volunteers were present at different points throughout the weekend to act as coaches and mentors.   Sponsors included: the USO, Drymax socks, La Sportiva, UltrAspire, Trail Runner Nation, Black Diamond, Tailwind Nutrition, Ultrarunner magazine, Whole Foods, Strutz Incorporated, Richard Rybacki and Sandy Nguyen, and Jason Crockett.   Team RWB's mission is to enrich the lives of America's veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. The camp is another example of the efforts to further this mission. To learn more please visit www.teamrwb.org Video was Filmed and Produced by JJ Star and Rule29 Creative www.rule29.com
